Andrew Lewis

He was born in the twin-island paradise, Trinidad & Tobago in the year 1989. Andrew Lewis has always been an ocean, human and overall life-lover from birth. Little by a little while, Andrew enjoyed life many started to get concerned about his reading & writing ability. At a very your age, Andrew was beginning to be separated from his school pairs as he was becoming labelled add & dyslexic.
During Andrew's school days from elementary to high school, it was a challenge to learn most subjects, especially anything requiring lots of reading. When it came to sports, arts and drama, Andrew got straight A's. For most of Andrew's life, reading has been a challenge, but he never gave up as his motto is "Hard Work Pays".
Andrew always told himself do what you're good at and let your primary focus be on what you love, but having some reading and writing ability is a huge assist, so just try your best.
As sports was a passion and love for Andrew at a very your age, he knew that he would love to make a living through sport. So felt at a very young tender age so being lived today. Andrew started sailing at the age of 7 and his love for the ocean, and his ability to connect with nature led him to work on his dream of becoming an Olympian.
On May 10th 2012, Andrew Lewis created history by becoming the first sailor from Trinidad and Tobago to qualify for the Laser class Olympics. At the London 2012 Games, he performed credibly and established himself among the best Laser sailors in the world.
Andrew recovered from a near-death experience to make a come-back in time for the Rio 2016 Olympics. The also competing at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in 2021 where he had his PB Olympic Games. Andrew has made it the finals in many events and also medaled at world cup.
Andrew is a firm believer of giving back to the community, especially the dyslexia community. While at home in Trinidad, he runs several programs with his foundation. With a passion for working with youths, Andrew embraces opportunities to mentor
children of different backgrounds. Through the Andrew Lewis Sailing Foundation, he teaches young students sailing and guides them in facing life's challenges. The foundation's main focus is education, sport, and overall community building.
He is a role model for Trinidad and Tobago's young people, and while Andrew's ultimate goal is to win an Olympic Gold medal for Trinidad and Tobago, he also really wants to help the dyslexic community thrive with the gift we are born with.
A focused, driven, and determined individual, Andrew embodies all the traits of a young professional athlete, true sportsman and overall humanitarian.
