Patrice Charles
Prior to journeying to New York to complete a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education at C.U.N.Y in New York, Mr. Charles was a “useful” Track runner for Brooklyn Track Club in San Fernando. In September 1999 he began teaching Physical Education in the Bahamas, where he worked alongside the Ministry of Youth & Sport on that island to develop youth sporting initiatives, with a goal towards both developing sport at the introductory level, but also to provide an avenue for exposure to higher level competition.
After returning to Trinidad in 2012, in addition to teaching, he was a Training Officer for Bravo Coy, 2nd Battalion Trinidad & Tobago Cadet Force, with responsibility for the training and development occurring at four schools. He was instrumental in the development of a multi-disciplinary “Ironman” sport competition in 2014 at the TTCF’s Annual Training Camp as well as coordinating Battalion sports from 2013 – 2017. He joined the Ministry of Sport & Youth Affairs as the Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sport (ADPES) in 2017, and acted as the Director of Physical Education & Sport (DPES) from April 2017 to December 2020.
