MINISTER OF SPORT AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

As Minister of Sport and Community Development, Minister Cudjoe is committed to the continued development of sport and the improvement of all communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

Ms. Shamfa Cudjoe was elected to represent the constituency of Tobago West as a member of the 11th Parliament, following the General Election of September 7, 2015. She was appointed Minister of Tourism on September 11, 2015. She was re-elected to the House as a Member of the 12th Republican Parliament in August of 2020.

Ms. Cudjoe first entered Parliament as an Opposition Senator on June 18, 2010, at the start of the 10th Republican Parliament, becoming the youngest Tobagonian to be appointed to the Senate.

Ms. Cudjoe is a former pupil of the Scarborough Secondary School and the Signal Hill Senior Comprehensive School. In 2006 she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from Bethune-Cookman College in Florida, USA where she graduated with honours. Ms. Cudjoe also holds a Master of Science degree, with distinction, in International Trade Policy from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. She also completed courses in Economic Development; Export Diversification; International Food and Agriculture Trade from the World Bank Institute.

Additionally, Ms. Cudjoe has served as an International trade consultant with the Organisation of American States and the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington D.C, and has represented Tobago at various consultations and negotiations on regional integration and international trade matters.

Minister Cudjoe is now serving her second term as the Member of Parliament for Tobago West, and as member of the Cabinet of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago as the Minister of Sport and Community Development.
